The next time you are passing the National Gallery, take a look at how clean the outside walls look. We were originally called in to remove graffiti that had been sprayed all over the stone. This involved smearing a very nasty chemical gel all over the affected area and then blasting it off using a high-pressure jet of steam. It is not the kind of work that you want to do without being completely protected in a body suit.

Clean and sealed:
The National Gallery

Once we had finished, the gallery managers were naturally worried that the "artists" in question would return. So we sprayed a special covering all over the clean stone. This created an invisible layer that allows the building to breath but prevents graffiti paint from soaking into the stone. It will not stop stupid people defacing out national heritage, but it will make cleaning the graffiti off a lot easier and cheaper for the gallery in the future.

The national gallery wanted the graffiti removed because it did not exactly fit in with the rest of the paintings inside. But did you know that you have to remove some graffiti by law? And it is up to the building owners and managers to clean it up. Anything that is racially, politically or sexually offensive has to be cleaned off your walls otherwise you are breaking the law.

Even worse may be the prospect of seeing the value of your property plummet. A lot of graffiti is done by local gangs to identify their territory. Surveys have shown that graffiti is one of the most threatening indicators of an unsafe area.

We can remove whatever graffiti problems you have both outside and indoors using the latest equipment and chemicals. Some of these chemicals you do not want to get your hands on. Methylene chloride, for instance, has been banned in some parts of the world because it causes a memory-loss condition called painter's disease. Others are carcinogenic.

We can also help protect your buildings from future attacks and install anti-graffiti systems.
